PA HUNTING LICENSES

BEAR LICENSE

In 1981, the first bear licenses were issued. Prior to that, most seasons permitted taking a bear with your regular hunting license. However, there were several years when the taking of bears or bear cubs were prohibited. In 1997, the size of the license changed and it no longer needed to be displayed on the hunter’s back. In 2001, a small stamp placed on the regular hunting license became the new format. It is still the current design. The PA Game Commission obviously overprinted many of the bear licenses. They were never discarded and many exist today.

Most bear licenses carry a value $3.
