PA HUNTING LICENSES

REPLACEMENT DOE

In 1951, the first statewide licensed season was held for antlerless deer. As with any small piece of paper (cardboard); licenses were lost, misplaced, and accidentally discarded. Therefore, it is believed that replacement licenses had to be issued. I have yet to see a 1951 or 1952 replacement doe license, but assume they exist. The earliest I have seen is a 1953. The tags were printed blank so that any county could be written in. Licenses from the 1950s and 1960s are scarce. As with most Game Commission items from the 1970s upward, they were printed in excessive numbers and have limited value.

This collection still needs these licenses: 1951, 1952, 1955, 1957, 1959
